Battle of the Bands Application Form

The Marshfield Fair and Rhythm Room Records are proud to present the 2007 South Shore Battle of the Bands. The Battle of the Bands is intended to showcase as many South Shore youth bands as possible and to give youth bands with an outdoor festival setting with which to perform. There is a $50.00 non-refundable application fee which will be used to pay for sound system and engineers. A grand prize of $500 for the first place band and $250 for second and third place bands will be awarded by the Fair and its sponsors to the winners of the final night's competition.

Please read this application form and rule guide very carefully.

The bands will be judged on 5 categories with a 1 to 10 point system. The categories are song selection, singing ability, musicianship, stage presence and overall performance. The bands will be required to plan for at lease 20 min and only up to 30 min. Total points will be deducted for infractions of time limits of from 5 to 10 points. The bands will be required to perform 4 different songs preferably 2 originals and 2 cover songs. The highest total point score wins the competition. The decision of the combined judges is final.

The competition is intended for youth bands therefore the age limit will be set for band members to be age 25 and under.

Parking is very limited at the competition site and an emergency exit is located behind the stage. Therefore one vehicle per band will be permitted at the competition site. No vehicle will be allowed to park on the emergency access road behind the stage.

The Marshfield Fair is intended to be a family event and many young children enjoy our attractions. Obscene language will not be permitted. Any band that uses obscene language or words that imitate obscene language will be eliminated from the competition.
